The lead partner embodies the matador: proud, commanding, and full of intention. The follower takes on the role of the sweeping cape or, in certain sequences, the bull itself. Together, the couple performs sharp footwork, sweeping capes, flamenco-inspired hand and arm styling, and powerful unison stamps known as appels.

Your first 45-minute private trial lesson costs just £35. This is available to singles and couples alike. After your trial, your instructor will recommend a package tailored to your goals and how quickly you would like to progress.
Can I learn the Paso Doble as a couple?
Yes. The Paso Doble is inherently a partner dance and it is a wonderful style to explore together. Our trial lesson is available to couples, and we offer ongoing private couples lessons as well as group class workshops.
Where is the studio located?
Step By Me Dance Studios is located at 3 Ashley House, Unit 2 Monck Street, Westminster, London, SW1P 2FA. We are easily accessible by public transport, close to Victoria Station and St James’s Park Underground station.
What are the studio’s opening hours?
We are open Tuesday to Friday from 1pm to 10pm, and on Saturdays from 11:30am to 7pm. We are closed on Mondays. Private lessons can be booked throughout those hours to suit your schedule.
Is the Paso Doble used in competitions?
Yes. The Paso Doble is one of the five International Latin dances contested at ballroom dance competitions worldwide, alongside the Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, and Jive. Our instructors are experienced competition dancers and can guide you towards competitive performance if that is your goal.
Do I need to bring a partner?
No. Our trial lessons are available to singles and couples. If you arrive alone, your instructor will partner with you during the lesson. We also have group workshops where students rotate partners, which is a great way to meet the wider dance community.
